Factors to be considered while creating sprinkler system modeling

Hospitals are places of refuge sick and weak people can seek relief. Fire in any building can be a horrific affair and in a hospital building, it can have a devastating impact. Fire in the hospital building can have severe consequences as most people in the hospital are sick and therefore cannot escape the Fire on their own.  Therefore, it is important to plan and design the fire system of the hospital building with great care and attention to detail.

Designing the fire protection system is a complex task for any building.  While designing the fire protection system for a building it is important to adopt a holistic approach and analyze each and every building component in its entirety. The process becomes more critical in a hospital setting. For designing the fire protection system of any hospital,  it is important to not only comply with the code and legal responsibilities but also considered the different parts of the building. In order to address the complexity associated with designing the fire protection system for a hospital building, it is recommended to use sprinkler system modeling

While creating the sprinkler system modeling for a hospital There are several factors that need to be considered. Firstly the fire protection system in the building should be able to detect a fire.  Secondly, it is important for the system to be capable of notifying people about the presence of fire.  Thirdly there should be a system of suppressing the fire.  Here is a sequential description of all these processes in the fire protection system of the hospital.

Detection

Before a fire protection system can be used to douse the fire it is important to be able to detect the fire. Fire can be detected using a range of different sensors including Trigger alarms, notification systems, and smoke detectors. There should be appropriate sensors and detectors to detect the different components of fire including the smoke, flames, heat, and gases.  The sensor system should be able to detect the different components of fire and transmit the data via a data bus to the fire detection system.  A fire detection control panel can be set up to detect the fire in the entire Hospital building. It is important to ensure that the fire protection system is robust and modeled under MEP BIM modeling.

Notification

Alarms are one type of fire notification, and they've gotten more complicated throughout time, with more functions, such as:

Alarm systems should ideally serve two purposes: to notify building occupants and to notify emergency public responders (police and fire departments) for rapid action. Certain fire alarm systems can lead first responders to the specific location of the incident. To assist with this, software such as AutoCAD may be used to design floor plan integration. The fire system can also be modeled under MEP BIM modeling.

Suppression

The suppression system installed is an important aspect of the fire system design. The sprinkler system is the most common and commonly utilized suppression system in hospitals. According to the National Fire Protection Association, having a functional sprinkler system saves 50-67 percent of injuries and property loss during a fire compared to not having sprinklers (NFPA). In this respect, the sprinkler system can be modeled with sprinkler system modeling for greater efficiency.

Thus, the application of BIM can help in developing a great fire protection system in the hospital that can protect its inhabitants in case of fire.
